Summary
This is a revision of the Catechism for Young Children. It is published by Great Commission Publications (GCP), the publishing arm of the PCA and OPC denominations. This version is used by many modern catechism programs and resources for young children, particularly in the PCA and OPC churches. It is available in booklet form from GCP. The first version was published in 1996 and had 145 questions; they added one question and omitted another compared to the original version, in additon to revising some questions and changing the order slightly. Booklets containing this version are still floating around in many homes and churches. However, they revisied it again in 2003, coinciding with the publication of their KidsQuest catechism program. Confusingly, this version contains 150 questions, and many questions changed in the first version were changed back to the original version found in Catechism for Young Children. So now there are two versions of First Catechism, with revisions back and forth compared to the original. Various memory guides and programs refer to different versions of First Catechism, which have different number of questions. This can lead to a some confusion among parents and teachers. Still, this is probably the best catechism to use with young children.
