Dennis grew up in the Pittsburgh area and received a B. A. in geography from Shippensburg
University. After college, while working for Ligonier Ministries, he moved to Orlando
where he met Rhonda. Growing up as a PK (preacher’s kid), Rhonda’s exposure to missionaries
led to her growing interest in missions. After graduating from Covenant College
with a B. A. in biology, she spent the summer of 1984 in Taiwan under MTW/Short-Term
(previously MTW/Impact). She then moved to Orlando to teach middle school at Orangewood
Christian School. In Orlando she met Dennis, and they were married November 30,
1985. Soon after they were married, they sensed God’s leading them into missionary
service. They served under MTW/Short-Term in Merida, Mexico, where they were “seconded”
in ministry to Logoi, and worked in the regional office. Upon completion of this
two-year assignment, Dennis pursued training as a desktop publisher with Wycliffe
Bible Translators. The Conroys have completed two terms with MTW/WBT in Davao, Philippines
where Dennis has typeset New Testaments, a variety of Scripture portions, and has
done computer mapping of language data.
