Music Ministries
Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this
be made known in all the earth. Isaiah 12:5
We strive to worship our true and living God by the means of all that he has commanded
in his Word. Our services are largely traditional, though not to the exclusion
of the use of contemporary songs or hymn settings. Our morning service music
consists of choral anthems or solos and congregational hymns and responses and is
typically accompanied by orchestra and piano. Our evening services feature
congregational singing with piano or periodically other instruments. We utilize
existing talent in our congregation for instrumental and vocal ensembles of various
types as well.
Our overarching desire is that we, as a congregation, would grow in our understanding
of what it means to worship our true and living God by means of music, and that
we might worship our God corporately, with our whole hearts, using a broad range
of musical expressions appropriate for divine worship.
Adult Choir
The adult choir is open to youth and adults and meets during the school
year. The choir sings regularly in church and performs cantatas at Christmas
and Easter as well as other special music services. A variety of musical styles
are used. The choir rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings.
Children's Choir
The Children’s Choir is open to any child within the church,
ages 5-12. The choir sings as an ensemble for the church, typically as a prelude.
They are also combined with the Adult Choir at least
twice each year. The Children's Choir participates in special services,
and children participate in special music performances. The Children's Choir
rehearses and performs during the school year; during the summer, the children typically
perform a children's musical. Rehearsals are weekly on Wednesday evenings.
