To encourage and to facilitate personal Bible study and devotions, we offer a Bible
reading plan for everyone to use. There are added benefits as well to having
the congregation reading through the same passages at the same time. We have chosen to use the plan written by
Robert Murray M'Cheyne. This plan offers daily texts for both personal and
family devotions. These may be switched and alternated as the leader of the
family so chooses. Using this plan, both personal and family readings, a person
will read through the entire Bible once in a year, with the Psalms and New Testament being read twice.
The Family readings
include the Psalms, the entire New Testament, and part of the Old Testament.
The Personal readings include the New Testament, the Psalms, and part of the Old
Testament. After one year the personal and family readings could be switched
if desired. The instructions also note that the head of the household may change
family and personal readings as appropriate for the family.
The daily readings are listed every day here on our website, along with a
page showing
the entire text of any day's readings. You can listen to the readings on your
computer as well. You can also read or download the entire year's readings. Printed copies of the plan are also available at the church.
There are a number of other Bible reading plans available, both in book form and
online. Some are available in our bookstore; others can be found at the
ESV website.
